Medicare and Individual Health Sales Consultant - Texas
Summary: This position is accountable for meeting/exceeding Medicare and Individual sales goals and driving business growth, through brokers, by identifying, qualifying, and creating new business opportunities in Texas. The incumbent will promote Flex’s products, services, and any technology platforms of our General Agency carriers; build and foster new and existing broker and client relationships; and serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding our health insurance, technology platforms, and related products and services.
Additionally, the Medicare & Individual Health Consultant is responsible for providing assistance to consumers as needed, recommending Medicare and Individual plans that meet their needs. This individual will be required to utilize their product and sales knowledge and provide advice, recommendations, and assistance to each client. This individual will be required to support clients regarding Medical, Medicare, Critical Illness, Dental, and Vision primarily, as well as other lines of coverage as needed to facilitate sales and provide exceptional service.
Key responsibilities include:

Sales and Customer Support:
- Consistently meets sales objectives, appointment and prospecting goals established by Management.
- Identifies and develops relationships with new brokers and clients.
- Makes and receives calls and communicates effectively to complete the sales process.
- Participates in call campaigns and makes outbound calls to leads generated through Flex’s business activities.
- Contacts brokers regularly to keep them informed on new sales opportunities and product changes.
- Prospects to recruit new brokers to increase sales opportunities.
- Utilizes sales database and software tools to assist in managing sales territory.
- Conducts seminars and webinars and/or presentations to further sales opportunities and support the broker.
Service & Cross-Selling:
- Serves as a knowledgeable resource to provide counseling regarding insurance coverages and answer questions pertaining to existing insurance plans.
- Proactively makes calls to, new, existing brokers and clients to ensure customer satisfaction and utilizes expertise in cross-selling to maximize the sales of products and services.
Training:
- Actively participates in training and development programs to enhance product knowledge and sales techniques.
- Takes initiative to expand knowledge regarding the marketplace, products and services, industry trends, and government regulations that pertain to health insurance and related benefits.
- Assists with training others within the department.
- Complete required product certifications and obtain proper licensing with all applicable carriers as necessary. Furthermore, the incumbent is required to obtain Medicare certification every year while employed in this position.
Administrative Tasks:
- Responds promptly to all voicemails, emails and faxes.
- Generates insurance quotes and sends them to prospective clients along with relevant brochures and application materials as needed.
- Makes accurate entries into the company databases.
- Prepare sales reports as needed or requested. Performs other tasks as required based on the varying business needs of the organization.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains relationships with carrier representatives and partner to increase sales.
- Actively leads training and development programs for brokers ranging from business and marketing planning to product training.
Requirements include:
- 2-3 years Individual Health Insurance sales experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid Texas Insurance Producer’s License or obtain in 45 date from hire.
- Must be able to meet insurance carriers’ requirements to be appointed to sell their products (this includes an acceptable credit rating and a clear criminal background check)
- Ability to learn the product, compliance and ethics pertaining to Medicare to obtain annual Medicare certification for all carrier represented by Flex
- Annual Medicare certification for all carriers represented by Flex will be required.
